I
am Alex, a teenager from Arizona. I got an acoustic guitar as my gift after
recovering from jaundice. At first, I was too lazy to start the lessons though
I had a deep inclination towards music especially rock and pop. My guitar was
lying untouched in its case for many months until my dad encouraged me to start
learning the guitar by arranging a professional who would visit my house once a
week to give me a guitar lesson.
It
was a bright sunny day when my dad told me that my guitar teacher will come
over today at 7 pm. I was not too excited to learn the instrument, maybe due to
my bodily weakness or the weather intensity; I am not so sure what the reason
behind my dull perception of this was.

However,
in the evening my music teacher Sir Patrick came over. I was hesitating to go
meet him and talk about music and instruments. Then I opened up a bit and
started a humble conversation with him. He seemed a very polite person like
someone who is not too strict towards his students.
In
my first lesson, he made me learn about the 6 strings of the guitar, its
chords, and major/minor portions of the fretboard. The fretboard which appeared
to be a normal log of carved and varnished wood with few dots being put
randomly now seemed such a fascinating piece of art. He asked me to practice
brushing my hand over the strings in ascending as well as descending manner so
to get my hands suited and adjusted to the guitar. With every tune I heard, my
heart was reacting with pure joy. My reaction towards learning the guitar was different
now. I was feeling happy and excited about learning this new art- music!
I was loving the tone and sweet notes of pop music in the Western manner which is one of my favorites because I used to sing English songs since I was a kid. Now I believed I could flourish by entering into this fascinating field of music and one "bonus point" to learning music is that it reduces your stress levels. I now feel contended that I have added a good habit to my life. Indeed it is a delightful experience which I am feeling with my very first step in the world of music.
