History
Artificial
intelligence was first coined in 1956 by John McCarthy at a workshop held on
the campus of Dartmouth College. He was a computer scientist who introduced it
in confesses.
That’s why he is known as the father of artificial intelligence.
What is Artificial
Intelligence (AI)?
Artificial means all those things are made by humans while intelligence means the ability to think.
Artificial Intelligence is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines. In simple words, AI is science-making machines that mimic the behavior of human beings.
Present-day uses of AI
Currently, AI has
covered all possible domains in the market. It had accomplished his task of
creating such types of robots that can make the life of human beings easier and
full of technology. It has developed its roots in health care, robotics,
marketing, business analytics, and many more.
However, the miss
conception about artificial intelligence is that most people think that
artificial intelligence is only the robots that work around us. We are
surrounded by so many machines that are working on the principle of artificial
intelligence. For example, everybody is using Google for searching their desire
material, but no one wondered that how it can give such accurate answers
instantaneously. Likewise, Tesla cars can also be drive by themselves by
detecting the images and location around them and can automatically drive
themselves. Similarly, we all are using Facebook almost all the time but no one
thinks that how could it give the content based on our choice and interest. The
answer to such types of questions is artificial intelligence.
Similarly, face
recognition app in iPhone, Autopilot feature at Tesla, the social humanoid
Sophia, Google maps, Google Assistants, etc. all of them are using Artificial
Intelligence programming.
Advantages
- AI can minimize the error so
that we can get accurate measurements within a few seconds.
- Machines working on the
principle of artificial intelligence can work so many hours without any
break or any refreshment as required by human beings.
- J.P Morgan intelligence
platform using artificial intelligence and machine learning and image
recognizing software to analyze the documents and extract the important
images within a minute. Manually reviewing such things take so many hours,
but AI can do this in a matter of seconds.
- IBM Watson, more than 230
health care organizations are using IBM Watson technology for diagnosing
diseases in patience.
- Al can be used for security
purposes.
- Cellphones are using face
recognition technology which is also based on AI.
- Twitter, uses AI to identify
hate speech and terroristic languages in the twits.
Disadvantages
- Almost all of us would have
been head about the famous quote of Stephen hawking, “strong AI take off
its own, and redesign itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are
limited by slow biological evaluation, couldn’t compete and would be
superseded.
- The making of such machines is
very expansive because their structure and programming are very complex.
- With time, unemployment in
human beings is going to be the most common thing. Because robots and
machines are doing such jobs instead of human beings.
- The IQ of a chimpanzee is
almost 55% while that of human beings is almost 60%, there isn’t a huge
difference between the IQ of both species but their working capacity is
dramatically different, but if robots or any machines based on artificial
intelligence take over the world it will destroy the world as its
estimated intelligence is more than human beings.
- During the processing of
computer machines, if programmers allowed artificial intelligent machines
to make changes in themselves on their own, that would be the drastic
level for mankind
- It is estimated that AI will
take over the world within the coming 30-40 years.
Conclusion
In a conclusion, we find that artificial intelligence is of great importance in our daily life. Without the use of machines and equipment, we would not be live in the current era. Moreover, it is very important for security and defense purposes. However, there is a drastic side of artificial intelligence as well, which can lead to the permanent destruction of mankind.
