The adoption of the
Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015 was a pivotal point in the history
of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, to start a
new chapter on the global stage, one significantly different from the preceding
decades of hostilities between the two nations. Unfortunately, the deal was
short-lived and President Donald Trump withdrew from it after he took the
office of President of the United States. This resulted in chaotic relations
between Iran and the US in general, which also spanned out to creating issues
in the whole Middle East. The research looks upon the recent developments in
the Iran US relationship. The relation between Iran and the US has been viewed
under the theory of neo-realism. The study seeks to explore the nature and
range of relations between Iran and the USA from 1908 to 2015, and how did the
relations between Iran and the USA change between Obama and the Trump
administration. Further, this study analyses the implications of Iran US
relation on the Middle East region and anticipate possible future scenarios for
the Iran-US relation. The research argues that diplomacy should be the only
course of action to solve the perils of the enmity of Iran and the US. Finally,
the research concludes that this looming threat of a war between Iran and the
USA scares both the states as well as the rest of the world, if effective
policies are not implemented in the near future it can unleash negative impacts
for the whole world. Possible recommendations are also given in this study.
