IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONAL
SUPPORT
If you have a friend who
can be with you in your hard times, then you are a very fortunate person.
(Hazrat Ali R.A)
Have you ever thought, about how fortunate you
are? How many sincere friends have you got in your life? Do they provide you
emotional support when it is much needed? Or Would you be their emotional
supporter when they are in dire need of it? Are you sympathetic to your
friends?
Unfortunately, we are living in an ignorant era
where everyone around us stays with us whenever it is convenient for them,
where everyone is running aimlessly in the race of social media. In such a
selfish and busy generation, if you have only one person who knows the
importance of emotional support and goes the extra mile for you then take note
that you are the luckiest one, and keep that gem with you.
What is emotional
support?
It is an approach of understanding that gives
someone the courage to deal with a difficult situation. It is that support that
comforts someone at such a level that they can tell you about their anxieties,
fears, or any emotion without hesitation. It might come from friends, or family
if you don't have any then your psychologist could be your emotional supporter.
Need for emotional
support:
Does one really need emotional support? We
especially men are grown up with the mindset that showing your emotions or
asking for help in your tough time is your weakness. But how can we deny the
need for the body as a human being? We are not machines, we are not only
brains,
we are the most beautiful creatures of our God,
Human beings, that are made up of soul, mind, and body. We have our own
essential needs even though society is trying to deny the need to talk about
our emotions. Anyone that can do the toughest job is to ask for help.
Benefits of Emotional
support:
Talking about your emotional needs can lower
your anxiety, give you calmness, and relax you. It balances your heartbeat and
improves one's general wellness.
How to be an emotional
supporter:
Everyone is not a kind and emotional supporter by
birth. One has to learn to be sympathetic. Yeah, it's not an easy job but not
impossible either. You just have to be patient with people and practice some
basic gestures of kindness:
Questioning
The most basic thing to be an emotional supporter is that you can
simply ask about their problems. Most people are not open to the problem that
they are battling inside. So you have to be a bit open or make them feel
comfortable. Ask them simple questions like Are you alright? You don't seem
okay today, Is everything okay? How's your job going on?
You don't seem present here mentally, is there anything bothering
you, you may share it with me.
Listen, Listen and
Listen
Sometimes people don't need to listen to our
advice. They just want to lighten the burden of their hearts. At such times,
just sitting with them and listening attentively could be the most brilliant
support for them. Your body language must be aligned with you at that time.
Remember, don't pass any insensitive remarks, you are just listening but that
person is handling that situation.
Don't Criticize
Sometimes, people suffer from their own actions.
In such a situation, it is more difficult to discuss things with anyone so if
someone tells you something in such situations, don't criticize or correct them
at that point.
CONCLUSION
We always try to find love and support in our
friends but how many times have we tried to be real friends in this world full
of fake friends? A very simple rule of getting things you need is to provide
them to others. If you want to get love, try to give it to others. If you want
to get emotional support try your best to provide others when they need it.
BE A REASON SOMEONE BELIEVE IN THE GOODNESS OF
THE WORLD.
